Practicing Sustainable Printing Through Packaging Design
Traditionally, ink cartridges were designed as a single unit containing three to four colours, which often forces users to dispose of remaining colours when only one colour has run out; This could lead to unnecessary waste of resources.
Brother's colour inkjet printers, LED, and laser printers all use individually packaged consumables, when the ink or toner runs out, users only need to replace the exhausted colours. Additionally, due to the general lifespan of printing drums being longer than that of toners, Brother's entire range of laser and LED printers use detachable printing drums and toners. This ensures optimal use and eliminates the need to discard partially used drums when the toner runs out, helping users reduce printing costs, at the same time, meets environmental responsibility.
Brother's individually packaged consumables not only reduce unnecessary expenses and lower printing costs but also allow both home and business users to better manage their diverse printing needs while minimizing waste of unused ink or toner, enabling users to enjoy high-quality printing while contributing to environmental protection.
Brother Recycling Program
In addition to using environmentally friendly ink, toner, and drum packaging, Brother has recently eliminated plastic packaging in favor of paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This ensures that the paper used in our packaging comes from suppliers that are humane and socially responsible, protecting biodiversity, indigenous community rights, and maintaining the balance of forest ecosystems. Our new packaging is also easy to recycle; simply place it in our recycling bins to transform it into new materials, thereby minimizing its environmental impact.
Customers can bring exhausted consumables to Brother customer service centre for recycling or notify us for onsite pickup once specified models and quantities of consumables are collected, and in return, the customers will receive a Brother eShop voucher as a token of our appreciation for active participation in environmental protection.
